Major Boost for FT40 Class

Major Boost for FT40 Class with Tim O’Connor’s Ongoing Support

Formula Racing New Zealand (FRNZ) is thrilled to announce a major support package for the FT40 class, thanks to the continued backing of long-time supporter Tim O’Connor.

Josh Donohue with Sponsor Tim O’Connor’s FT40

Tim has been instrumental in the FT40 story—rescuing the cars by purchasing the bulk of Toyota’s fleet along with the complete spare parts inventory. He also sponsored top contenders in the inaugural series, including Josh Donahue and Sam MacNeill, with Josh going on to win the inaugural Formula Open overall title in one of Tim’s FT40s.

Now, Tim is stepping up his commitment even further. For the 2026 season, FT40 drivers will enjoy Parts and setup support at every round:

Complete spare parts kit available trackside

Suspension geometry jigs, tools, springs, and bars for race preparation

Corner weight scales for both car setup and minimum weight checks

This initiative ensures every FT40 team has access to the best equipment and support possible. The programme will be managed by Paul Couper, who will oversee the consignment stock at each event.

Tim is also preparing his two remaining FT40s, with the aim of seeing them back on track this season. Contact Tim from our website to discuss.

FRNZ extends its sincere thanks to Tim O’Connor for his unwavering support of the FT40 class and its drivers.
